copywriting laws on borrowing photographs for facebook groups?
hello. If I took a photo off the internet (for example, yahoo) and posted it on a group as an example of what the group is about, is there anything I could say in the description that would make it legal to do so? for example… " I claim no rights to these photographs"? Hope that makes sense.
can I just add that the pictures I have posted on the group are public pictures of our local town. Not nessisarily Photographs. Does this make any difference?
You are not "borrowing" a photograph for use elsewhere.
You are STEALING it.
Unless there are terms associated with the picture which state that they are free for everyones use anywhere then you have to get the permission of the photographer (copyright owner) to use them or post them elsewhere.
